February Vacation First in Math Class Champs!

Entrance, Lynn Woods Reservation.
The
Lynn Woods Wolf Trot is a race through Lynn Woods – a 5K (LONG RACE) and 3K
(SHORT RACE) open to the public. Funds
raised defray costs for Nature’s Classroom Trip (5th grade) and build
the classroom funds for all other grades.
CAN YOU OR YOUR BUSINESS BE A RACE SPONSOR?
A $100 donation puts you or your business name on our race t-shirt.
The
biggest costs associated with racing events are timing and t-shirts. Last year our sponsors helped us cover all
operating costs, which means more money for cool programs and activities at
Lynn Woods School!
CAN YOU RUN or WALK with us on April 5th?
Our
next biggest need is race participants.
We had 225 folks show up last year, and it was AWESOME, so share our
race sign up information with everyone you know. The
first 100 registrants get a complimentary race t-shirt. Run or walk, short or long race…we need your
participation. Teams welcome as
well!!! Paper registration forms or sign
up on active.com.
CAN YOU HELP in other ways?
Donations of healthy snacks:
oranges, bananas, grapes, snack bars, etc. (NO NUTS PLEASE!)
Drinks for runners (bottled water and/or sports drinks)
Market your own products or services to race participants
Volunteers needed for registration, race timing, race course
(to make sure no one gets lost or injured)
and post race refreshments.

A Powerful Olympic Poem by Robert D in Grade 3
Oh my I just heard the Olympics are starting!
Last place does not deserve to be champion but trying….YES!
Yet trying does not mean medals, only winners have them.
Main event, every four years and a big competition.
Participants play for the prize and pride
Indeed,
during the opening ceremony the torch flies with flame.
Certain times an athlete wins a lot - and certain times they lose
Sportsmanship is needed to play for international champion
and for changing the world.
We have claimed this title 3 times in a row !

Dear Lynn Woods School,
Congratulations, I am so happy to
announce that you are the 1st place school of First in Math for the Lynn School
District during the months of November 2013, December 2013 and January 2014! Your
school has earned an average of 2,135 stickers per
student. What a wonderful
accomplishment!
To celebrate such an achievement,

asking Lynn Woods Elementary School parents to please fill out
a brief MassDOT’s Safe Routes to School survey.

transportation choices. All responses are voluntary and confidential.

Teacher of the Year Nominations
The Rotary Club of Lynn is starting a Teacher of the Year
Award to call attention to the importance of teaching and service to the
community. Winning recipients will
receive a $1000 for personal use prize and $1000 for school use prize. Students, parents, colleagues, administrators
and members of the general public can nominate teachers. I have also included the
