BRAVO Lynn Woods Student Council

I’m not sure I can do justice to the recent student council projects.  Mrs. Kennedy proposed that all 4th and 5th grade potential Student Council Candidates do some type of community service as a prerequisite to joining the council.  I cannot tell you how they surpassed our expectations.  Take a look below.  Bravo boys and girls!

Madilyn collected canned good in her neighborhood for a food pantry.

Ava and Gianna did dog walking and car washing.  They earned $45 to donate to the Salem Animal Shelter.

Ashley helped create a clothing donation center at her church and donated a bunch of winter clothing.

Tia actually worked at My Brothers’ Table with her cousin Kristin.  She prepared salad and handed our bread.

Olivia collected cans from neighbors and friend.  She purchased $34.80 of pet toys, soap and trash bags for the Northeast Animal Shelter.

Shea visited a nursing home and met some very interesting folks.

Ava donated an entire box of animal treats to the Northeast Animal Shelter

Edward used his own money to purchase Toys for Tots.

Harry created “Wear Red for a Bed”.  He made bracelets.  Put them in baggies with a donation card.  All proceeds with go to “Bed for Every Child”, an initiative through Mass Collation for Homeless.

Sydney sold popular rainbow loom for $1 and donated profits to Northeast Animal Shelter.

Kitty brought smile to kids faces on Halloween by donating all the family costumes to DCF.

Catherine cleaned our local softball field.

Devin donated dog and cat food to the animal shelter.

Ben cleaned trash from Flax Pond.

Abby and her cousins raised $300 in walk a thon for My Brothers Table.

Adam did a school wide collection of items to send to our troops.

Jillian helped people stay warm by donating 40 coats to Sacred Heart.

Brook cleaned the beach and joined Coast sweep.

Cullen donated items to Salvation Army

Molly donated her hair to Locks of Love!

Katie donated 20 blankets and towels from family and friends to animal shelter.

Jordan, Shane and Owen picked up trash at Lynn Woods Park.

Mackenzie collected items for the animal shelter.

I am fortunate to have a job that allows me to watch kids grow and learn on a daily basis.  This is a beautiful thing to witness.   These children and their work, imparticular, have more than impressed me.  Finding a cause that you feel passionate about, forming a plan and helping another human being or animal, is just amazing!  I think it will be a project that will stay with them for a long time.  I also think it speaks the character of the students at Lynn Woods.  So proud of you all!

Dancing with the Lynn Woods Stars!

Boston Ballet Visited Grade 3.  Our children learned some dance moves and coordination with the talented staff of Boston Ballet.  Also impressive is that the dancers made a special visit to my office to comment on how respectful our students were during the lesson!!  That is Lynn Woods respect at its best!

National Walk to School Day was BIG success !

Thank you to the teachers, students and parents who joined us for the walk to school this past Wednesday.  Some students hopped on the "walking school bus"  that Mrs. Kennedy started and joined the rest of us at the park on Great Woods Rd.  It was a short but brisk walk to school.  We all talked and enjoyed each other.  It was a great way to start the day.  Thank you Heather Ross from Massachusetts Safe Routes to School for providing pencils for all who walked.  Also thank you to Mrs. Whalen for introducing us to such a great idea!
