Family Math Night/Ice Cream Social

Math Night was a great success. The teachers were very creative setting up Math Centers for families to enjoy together. The night concluded with ice cream sundaes in the gym.

Mrs. Lo set up some calculator math.....with a hidden message.
First graders graphed Skittles and then ate the data!
Students were able to show off their interactive Smart Board skills
Students and parents worked together to problem solve.
Ice creams were served up by parents and enjoyed by all.

Students estimate and record how many jelly beans were in the container.
 Wow.....future architects

Grade 2 had to make and record their leap and  their parents had to try to beat it.

AND.....the winner of the jelly beans!

Emperor Penguin

The first grade is learning about Emperor Penguins.  After reading and researching on the Smart board, they acted out how Emperor Penguins carry their precious eggs.  Our youngsters found out that the penguins make it look easy.  Answer: Emperors don't build nests: they carry their eggs balanced on their feet, under their belly.
